His background is from the film industry itself, as his father Chiranjeevi is a liberal Telugu actor. While his grandfather Amu Ramalingayya was a comedian and freedom fighter. Actor Rana Daggubati is his childhood friend. Famous actor Pawan Kalyan is his uncle and Allu Arjun is his cousin.
He also serves in an airline called Turbo Megha Airways. He is the owner of a polo team in Hyderabad known as Ram Charan Hyderabad Polo Riding Club. His wife Upasana Kaminini is also the Vice President of the Apollo Charity and the Editor-in-Chief of Be Positive magazine.
Prior to acting, he wanted to start his career in automobile engineering. He learned acting skills from the "Kishore Namit" acting center in Mumbai. He advertises for the multinational company "Pepsi", while his father Chiranjeevi advertises for the "Thums - Up" company.
His father Chiranjeevi is a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan and has always wanted to work on the same screen with him. But, incidentally, his son acted in the remake of Amitabh Bachchan's film "Zanjeer".
